Old line Plotts, bred true, go (males) 50/75 lbs. (females) 45/60 lbs. those larger are products of modern breeding and not full Plott!!!!

For the record==I was 16 when Plotts were registered and have known all the famous plott men. I have owned them since 1955 so I feel qualified to say, I know a lot about plotts and whats taken place in the breed since 1946.

Plots like any other breed of hound, are a mixed up stewing pot of different breeds. It isn't completely unheard of to get pups with traits that go back to old ancestral blood. My dad and grandpa kept and bred plott hounds in the 60s and 70s, and though 60 lb dogs where the average, it wasn't uncommon to get the odd big leggy hound. If I can figure out how to scan these old photos I got and put them here I can show you some examples of big old blood plotts.

You Probably have pictures of some Drum blood. Maybe you can get them on here. To start with Plotts were just cur dogs. Before Mr. Crockett passed away he bred plotts like they did years ago. Of course he didn't keep papers on all of his dogs
