The other night I turned my walker loose with a blue tick and redtick..5 minutes goes by and my walker strikes a track and breaks off and trees with the coon up the tree..the other 2 hounds were running a different track and didnt seem like they were gonna finish it so my buddies told me to cut my walker loose again and see if he could catch up to them..I cut him loose and not even 10 minutes goes by my dog had already struck and treed this coon..What im getting at are there any fast blue dogs out there cause everyone Ive ever hunted with seem to be slow..Now im not knocking blue ticks if you have a good one thats great it just seems like they take to long to finish a track?

What's the hurry? Why is speed such an important criterion? In food and sex, always being the first one done can be considered rude. Some of us love to hear the hounds and enjoy hearing the dogs work a hard track.

I guess its a personal preference and huck i love hearing my hounds run..and i never said he was a rocket to the tree but if its a decent track he figures it out rather quickly...just seems like walkers can work a track a little quicker then others

I love it... haha. Everyone around here hunts Walker dogs and I'm the only one with enough sense to hunt Blueticks... I'm gonna start using this when they give me a hard time. haha.

Everyone has a preference (thus the reason for everyone owning different breeds and different genetic lines) and mine is a cold-nosed, bawl-mouth Blue dog...

The blues I have are very fast! One is out of Bullet II and the other is out of Rambo II. These two dog will a can tree plenty of coon way out ahead of other dogs. I hunted blues 30 years ago and felt the way you did. In fact I hunted many walkers and black and tans in comp hunts and NEVER got beat by a blue dog. I didn't get beat too many times period! However, I'm back with blues now cause these dogs can certainly compete at a very high level against any walker.

A dog is only as fast as his nose in coon hunting. I've seen plenty of slow walkers. I've had fast and slow in every breed. If their brain can't process what their nose is smelling fast enough they will be slow!
