Blueticks are not bred right!!! They are a slower more deternined dog that gets the job done right but don't rack up a lot of points.
Lots of moderm hunters think the Bluetick was bred up from the Fox hounds but it's just the other way; Foxhounds were bred up from the Blueticks.Blueticks come from the Blue Mottled Gascony hounds; but that's another story.
Your Bluetick may suit you better than some of the world champions. I'm an old Plott hunter and I wouldn't have fed one world champ Plott!!!! Altho i would enjoy selling 4 or 5 for the price he sold for.

Blue River Droop was the NKC World twice.

He made the final cast a third time.

In UKC & PKC There will be a World Champ Bluetick someday soon.

Several have come close. Very close.

Smokey River Chief's Blue Hoss was 2nd in UKC

The old Knot Head dog almost won the PKC.

I can think of several others...

Several others have made the final cast.

It will happen soon enough.

People make a big mistake when they do that.

I don't know about other breeders/handlers. But when I was hunting UKC/PKC hard, I probably won 70% of my casts. And I always felt like the non blue guys expected my dog to be useless.

It really helped me to win.

That is an incorrect statement. A Leopard or Redbone has never won the UKC World Championship either. Only 1 Black dog and 1 Plott won it and those wins were years ago. It will come....blue dogs have finished in the top 4 several times.

Most bluetick owners are pleasure hunters. The blue dogs are just not comp hunted enough. If 300 blue dogs showed up at the world the chance of a bluetick world champ would be greater. Also how many bluetick men do you know that hunt nearly every night of the week? Alot of the big name walkers have multiple handlers that hunt the dog every night and in different hunting conditions. It takes a lot of woods time to make a world champ with handlers that know what they are doing with a dog.

Or here is another reason most blueticks wont hunt like this......... Circle tree, circle, circle, circle, circle, circle, circle, coon. The circle trees are most likely slick. This is why these comp hunters around here wont hunt in the hunts with the leaves off. Or the clubs don't have hunts when the leaves are off. A bluetick hunts like this in a two hour hunt most of the time.....Coon treed ............................................................................................................... Coon treed end of hunt. Even in bigger hunts the blue dog might put up more coon, but just cant compete against a dog that can make it to 8 or 9 trees in a hunt. I would not personally own 99% of the comp dogs around me. I like a coon dog, not a tree dog.

Blueticks are coon dogs. Lets hunt a night of hunting and see who comes back with the most coon. Mine don't tree trees.
