Warren Hasleur was the man who started this line. I do believe that he is still alive. He studded dogs for many years such as Smokey River Blue Rambler. If you can get ahold of Blue Books from either Bluetick organisation from the 80's or earlier you could catch up a lot on this line of dogs. There has been much written about the man and his dogs over the years.

Warren Housler's Smokey River hounds have been the corner stone of the Bluetick breed pretty much since the early days of the breed being recognized. Warren would travel the country and purchase the best of the best of the Blue dogs and promote them to very good results. He has always had a keen eye towards breeding and has more than stood the test of time as far as consistantly producing Blueticks for what Blueticks should be. It goes without question that he will go down in history as one of if not thee most influential producers of hounds of any breed.

I hunt heavy old blood Smokey River dogs.I stared with Smokey River dogs when I was 13 and I'm 48 now.
Super fast on track, cold nosed, accurate tree dogs.Mine are not belly up tree dogs but tree sitting on their butt 2-3 feet from base of tree barking up.
