Ive got a male thats 3rd generation hammer 18 and jet 6.Hes a loud mouth.Wide open long bawl on track with a whistle on the end of it.He trees with a chop ,hard and long, slings the slobber and chews some but not to bad.Hes a year and a half and hes treed plenty of coon by him self, and hes treed one possum and ran a deer or two.(not sure if the first one was a deer or fox.)He runs the tree and Ive caught him face barking a couple of times.Hes very cold nosed but not real fast.

Call Dave Dean. His # is in Full Cry. He is the originator of the Hammer line.

I wanted to get some opinions on Mr. Dean's Hammer dogs. What are some of the good things or the bad things you have seen?

Had a female out of Tree Slammin Blue Hillbilly that was nice. Hillbilly is out of Hammer 18. But have hunted with others out of him that I wouldn't take for a gift. My friend had one that was a grand pup to 14 or 15 quick track dog but there was a 50% chance he'd leave the tree. I'd say just like the rest good and bad which is in all bloodlines some are just better than others.

I have a jet8 male that has some hammer in him and he is one heck of a dog. He has been runnin and treein since he was 11 months old. Loud bawl mouth on track chop on tree. Feet on the timber locked down tree dog. Very fast on track. I am going to be breeding him to my female out of northern blue levi I cant wait to see how these pups turn out. I would def add hammer to your jet dog

I know MANY think Dave Dean is GODs gift to the Bluetick breed and idolize the man - I'm not one who does. My 1 time experience with dealing with him and his line wasn't good to say the least. 20 years ago when I bought a 10 month old Hammer bred female him. I Paid big $$ for it plus shipping expenses. It was the sorriest POS hound I ever owned and he wouldn't replace it.

That experience completely soured me on him and his line of dogs. I'll never owned another Hammer bred dog.
