I dont have any first hand experience or opinion on them.
Gramps said "they work all night on one track".
Wouldnt pay much attention to that,he was a walker man.
He held a better opinion about the wagner line.

this helps in a nut shell thou..............Early in the twentieth century, Hans Wagner from Tennessee, decided that the heavy set, Black and Tan was too slow on the trail, Wagner found this unsatisfactory. He and several others sharing his views started breeding a lighter, faster, shorter-eared Black and Tan Coonhound. All of the desirable characteristics of the old Black and Tan were maintained, but a dog more suited to competition was produced. Today, both varieties of the Black and Tan can be found.

The old blood is my personal favorite in B&T's. 1. i love listening to a dog run a track, and they throw a lot of mouth on track and are a lot slower so i get to listen to them a lot longer. 2. there looks, they have those super long ears that i love! They are also a lot bigger and taller than most B&T's, and in my book the bigger the hound the better I like it. 3.they are LOUD! Every old fashioned bred hound Ive ever hunted with has drowned out all the other dogs on the tree with there super hard treeing and big deep loud mouths. some may no tlike them, but everybody's different.

so are you guys telling me that back in the day they didn't have lighter faster shorter eared dogs. I am just wondering about the term "old fashioned" maybe I don't get it because I am 6'4" with big ears, little on the heavy side, and slow as hell! Call me "old fashion"(folks could probably only see in fuzzy black and white back then too)
