Well Ima keep at it for a few more hunts. Suppose to go hunt 1500 acres of private land Saturday that is suppose to be overun with coons so if that don't work then i really don't know what will other then time if he ever gets back to the way he was.

My buddy hunted with this dog 1.5 years ago and said it should be in competitions thats why we decided to buy this dog. According to the guy we bought him from (he only owned half of the dog) he had been on a chain for 8 months and nvr got to hunt in that 8 months. You could tell this because when we got him he was probably 85ish lbs of lard.

I can only hope he removes his head from his ##*%* if not i guess we will be in the market for a dog here in a few months

I just don't see a caged coon hurting a COONDOG!If he will run and tree a coon maybe he needs an easy one to get him back going!Fur in the mouth does better than a goody powder for a headache!

Ive coonhunted for 40 + years.I had my first hound at 5 years old..I even made my own live traps and rolling cages before anybody ever heard of a rolling cage...I learned a long time ago about what works and dont with most dogs.Ive owned and trained coonhound, beagles and Bird dogs..Cage coon is one of the most over done things done in training a coonhound..Most dogs if started right never need to see a caged coon....Coonhounds should use and trust there nose when hunting 100% of the time. The last thing I want a dog to do. Is be looking for a coon with there eyes..Thats what happens with most dogs if you over do cage coon..

And the rust falls off!

Hunted him Thursday night. Tryed to release him on one side of the road by the creek and he insisted on the other side set him loose 5yds in started bawlin 150 in he popped a couple of locates 175 great locate then treed. Sure enough busted him a small boar coon.

Saturday night 500yds in pulled off creek bed about 100yds treed and got a good 15lb boar although he almost stroked out ( after we shot coon down he fell over on his side).

So all in all his last 2 hunts have given us 2 coons to show for it. So I am in hopes that the rust has fell off. Now to get him to shed about 20lbs and we should be good.

Thank you very much. We shall see if he continues this weekend. I did find out a bit more info on the dog coming back to the truck after a meer 100yds in. The guy that trained him would drive down the road to find deer let the dog out and when he figured the dog smelled the deer he would hit him with the trash breaker. So i was told he is doing this bc he smells something that he knows he will get in trouble for (the smell) and is running back to the truck for fear of getting shocked/trouble.

I had a male dog that I shocked one time for running deer!As far as I know he never ran another but one time my buddys young black and tan struck a deer and my male dog never opened up .So we headed back to the truck so we could go down the road to catch up with his b&t.We got to the truck and my dog was in the dog box!LOLHe hunted fine after that but would not run a deer anymore!

Yes sorry been hunting alost lately. 13lb boar i auctually put him in freezer to be mounted on that tree. His tail was by far the longest i have ever seen on a coon.

Also after looking at bloodlines papers etc found he is also a Night Champion hiself. Thats why he was sold for 4500 1.5years ago just the guy that bought him just nvr hunted him
