I carry an old Marlin Model 25 replica. Its a bolt action so I can shoot the shorts. I also mounted a red dot scope on it. I have one of those strap on shotgun slings. It keeps the barrel from sticking way out like a normal sling so it doesn't get tangled as much. I have recently converted to the subsonic rounds however. They seem to work better in my semi-auto .22s. I also carry a small .22 pistol loaded with ratshot. Too many cottonmouths down here not to. Thats not exactly legal in Louisiana but for my safety. Shotguns aren't legal here either. Only 1 .22 caliber rifle per hunting party. There are all kinds of weird rules here. And after last season, I shoot to kill. Had a coon tear a one inch square chunk out of my pup trainer's ear.
I love to use a Remington Nylon 66 It is super light and tough. Sold mine though..in search for one. Right now i use a Ruger Mark III Target pistol..its loud but does great.
Crickett .22 with rem subsonics.... Or the old trusty .22 noble model 10. It's bout wore out tho, it's on it's 4th generation of coon hunters. Stock has been refinished a handful of times.
I carry a 10-22 ruger low power scope, the barrels are short it's usually one shot one coon. I do like the ideal of a pistol for conveniance but i would miss to much and thats no good.
I use a Mossberg ar15 with a spot on red dot scope. Like $270 brand new so not really worried about scratching it and It shoots smooth and its an assault rifle so I can have fun with it target shooting also. as for ammo I always use rem hollowpoints
I use my stainless Ruger Mark III target...and i carry a savage .22 mag for those stubborn coon...Ive got plenty of .22 so im not worried one bit for this upcoming season!
