What is the preference when hunting coon with .22LR - solid vs hollow point? Curious if one seems to work better than the other.

I use hollow points- the best round I can buy in bulk is Remington golden bullets. But the all-time best round is CCI stinger... They are louder than other .22 rounds but they knock em out dead!! Both rounds are hollow points

yes as jeepro said hollow points for sure, I never thought much about it until this year I had an incidence I let a buddy shoot an old boar coon with 3 paws out and I don't know where he hit this coon but it hit the ground ready to fight I had my 2 1/2 year old walker a 9 month old pup and my mutt kill dog. they rolled down a hill fighting the whole was and into the pond at the bottom when I got down there the coon was on top of my mutts head in the water and bit him by the eye, my pup got bit and my walker had a big deep gash on his cheep that took 2 weeks to heal up. I try and knock em out dead now and hollow point is going to help do that as not every shot is going to be perfect. I knocked one out with my 17hmr the other night no pelt damage
