The Coon Hunters Prayer

written by Jeffery Scott

Dear Lord,

Thank you for this beautiful day, thank you for loving hands to care for my dogs when they act up worse than I do. Thank you for all the animals and the great outdoors. Thank you for creating woods, bottoms, swamps and cropland with a coon hunter like me in mind. Lord, I know there is nothing I could ever do to be blessed the way you have blessed me, with a wife, family, and coon dogs to enjoy what you created.

Lord, I thank you for pickin up an ole cold trail like me. Lord, I thank you for carryin that track deep. Lord, you could have come back to the truck because you didn't want to run no trash. but Lord, you straightened that ole cold track out and "located." Lord, you could have shut up and never said a word, but Lord you went up on the timber and locked down, or might I say was "nailed down." Lord some people think jumping the tree or climbing the tree is bad. Lord, you hung on it for a coon hunter like me. Thank you for stayin put and never given up no matter how cold or trashy it may be. in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
