I recently noticed that on the front of my redbone's neck under all that loose hound neck skin there is a flat lump & the size & shape of the pad in a woman's powder compact on both sides of the neck. I'm wondering whether this is normal & I just never noticed it before or this is something to be concerned about. he's 3 years old, neutered & about 10 pounds overweight.

turns out to be swollen lymph nodes. hopefully caused by an infection. he's healthy in every other regard so we're hoping it's not lymphoma.

we had a biopsy done & he does have lymphoma. everything I've read says he has 6-8 weeks to live but as fast as he's going downhill I'm thinking 2-4 weeks if that long. I really wonder if all the chemicals we give our dogs like frontline & heartguard could be a factor in our dog's health. I do not use any chemicals on my lawn or vegetable patch but lots of people do.
