yes . I go by the philosophy that it makes the pups better when the mom is hunted. they can hear every bark she lets out.

I reckon you need to think about how pregnant is she? If she is close to the 60th day I would not take her to the woods as she might drop the pups in the woods. Other than that if you know she is not going to be left in the woods for days at the time it oughta be ok. But you know how hunting is she might get deep and cross a creek or river where you can't cross and get her back.

My friend has a 2 yr. old female that is pregnant and looks to have babies soon. Would it still be ok to hunt her?

Hunting up until the last few weeks is ok if you don't push the dog and you stop if she seems tired. If she's only got a couple of weeks to go don't hunt her any more until she has had the pups, weaned them, and her milk has started to dry up so she doesn't have a lot of "undercarriage" to get snagged on thorns and things. Besides, it's too hot out right now. You don't want to risk losing her and the pups too.

I am a little different but if I know the due date I will hunt them right up until about 2 days before they are born. The old timers say that the pups will learn more by the female hunting right up until time to drop em. Can't say one way or the other but my last 4 litters have made tree dogs.

i've always been told the same thing as mountain man was saying
the pups are able to learn before they are born and this helps him start faster

It all just depends on how they act for me.If they start having trouble keeping up or get tired real quick id lay her up.I know guys who hunted them all the way up to three days before.

It is not a good idea. She could be exhausted when it is time to have the pups and have problems during labor. She could injure herself or the pups. She could be in labor and get on a hot track and if she's a gritty sort you could find yourself looking all over the woods for dropped pups in the dark.
