I got started coon huntin the night I escaped from prison. The bloodhounds were chasing me, and I was hungry. I beat em down son and told em to tree me somethin to eat. Them bloodhounds went crazy howling all over them woods and started barkin treed. I climbed up that muddy river bank and there wouldn't a dang thing in that little ole bush. Some fellar walked up and said "we gonna have to minus them dogs boy, this here tree is slick". I said minus my a$$ you dirty sidewinder, what is that sittin right there on that limb? He shined his light up there one more time and said "10 minutes is up son, this one don't count". I slapped his face and ran outta them woods. This story was told to me by Loopy Dawg

my cousins got me into it was i was little old enough to go i cant realy remember i hunted with them for several years when i was 8 yrs old my dad bought me my first dog there aint nothing like listening to the dogs work a track and hearing a good race across a wide open cornfield i love it love it love it

Once upon a time in the early 1970's in Central Florida, when I was around 12 or 13 I used to hang out with some neighbors (the Spencers). Their Mom got a boyfriend from Tennessee (Tom Lane, if I remember right) that had a Big Bluetick, must have wieghed about 90-100 lbs, a couple Walkers, a Redtick, and a couple Black n Tans. We knew the swamps in that area so he would take us with him on the coon hunts. I got in trouble quite a few times for not coming home till the sun was coming up. My favorite from this time was always Blueticks.
We all went on a nite hunt down around the Okeechobee and spent the entire day there, having cookouts, playing softball, horse shoes, lots of stuff. Then the nite hunts started and his dogs were winners. He had a young walker pup that won the night. That dog got killed by a gator a couple months later. They moved a year or so later to Tennessee, but that was enough so that in 2008 I got a Bluetick pup and taker her out when I can.

thats like me my grandad had dogs then i watched that movie when i was 6 and got me 2 b/t and ive loved it ever since..iom trying to start back now!

my dad took me when i was four

always wanted a hound. My grandpa talked about all the time. i tried for probably 2 years to get my mom and step dad to let me get one.They didnt want it to be barking all the time. The neibors that live 1/2 mile down the road started complaining that are dogs kept barking. We just had a mut. They just got on my mom and step dads nerves so much they finally said i could get a hound. I sure it was to make me happy but part of it was to ##*%* off the neibhors.
