my 2 year old Bluetic will Blast off when you cast her . she runs silent . garmin shows her running hard around 600 yd or 1/2 mile out she slow down when we get close if there is a coon she has it treeed . Very Grity on ground . if she barks she is treed . how do i get her to hunt slower. She will leave other dogs if we cast them together..

From what I've gathered, that's just how some dogs are. She has been the lead dog, so she doesn't know to pack in with the other dogs.

Ive only known of 1-2 blueticks in my lifetime to be stone silent..She should open up more as she gets older.I had a treeing walker that was stone silent until he was 4 years old. Then one night he caught a coon on the ground. Then was wide open from that night on....Is your dog out of night hunt bred dogs???? Many dogs bred that way hunt like a racehorse...They run past a few coon before they stop and go hunting...LOL..But a lot of guys like that type of dog...

Haha its nice to hear someone else with the same frustration as me. I have a b&t that did that. I put him in my honey hole he got treed and we counted 14 shined coon in a pecan orchard. He went 650yrds treed and had one. Solution: leave his ##*%* in the woods. Did it 3 times and the dog started to hunt close so i followed him and worked with him till he found a nice medium. Now he starts huntin at 75-200 yrds but pray to the good Lord that he doesnt hit a cold track cause hes gone!

she is a Cross from a Comp Hunter in Mich. i got her at 9 months. she has caught 4 maybe 5 coons on the ground .. jumped up 4 or 5 ft and pulled one out of a plumb thicket to hold its head under the water in the creek ..Always grabs by neck "hard on her ears''

how long do you leave her in the woods ?
i also hope to use her on BEARS when i go to Wisc. 3 or 4 times a year.. if she will hunt behind the good bear dogs my FRIENDS run..

I usually leave em all night. Do you have a tracking collar?

I had a walker bluetick that dog hunted fast and hard if he didn't get the coon on the ground he didn't want to tree it. Sold him to a buddy and made a great bear dog.

600 aint that bad. was she hunted in thin coons before? have you hunted her with dogs that babel.. if thats how you spell it.the first night mine opened up was with a track man dog that knocks the woods down when he locates.id say she will bark soon.never seen a silent blu dog. my walker didnt open till he was 12 months now he wont shut up.

you could try what the bird guys do to get a dog to slow down. they put a short log chain on there collar to slow them down. eventually they get what you want them to do. would have to be pretty open woods though. good luck

would not like the log chain to hang up when she swims the river
she swims 2 or 3 times a night

If youre using a garmin what does it matter if she trees a coon!
