Has anyone ever heard of Tennessee Treeing Brindles? How about the Black and Tan Saddleback Treehound? I have only seen pictures of these. My great uncles used to have some of of the B&T Saddleback Treehounds, but again, I have only seen pictures. I have seen the T. T. B's. in old Full Cry magazines. Anybody know of any other old breeds?
Most all of your Cur breeds date WAY WAY back in American history. It is widely held that it is the Cur which gave our current hounds the treeing instinct.
this is my 2 cents worth right or wrong. back then they call a dog by it's marking like the sadle back black and tan, or the tennesse treing brendle, limen spoted walker, as to day we try to sell or breed our line of dog like house lipper . see back then they put more in to looks and not in to the name of who is in there ped, wright or wrong thats what i see ,

That may very well be. The Tennessee Treeing Brindles looked an awful lot like a brindle plott, but for some reason or another, weren't referred to as such. Those saddleback dogs of my great uncles (the pics were black and white, so you couldn't tell a lot) Looked like they were mostly tan, about the shade of tan on the American Black and Tan Coonhound, with a black saddle.
Back then they did put a lot of importance on a dog's looks because it meant it might be from a certain line. Kind of like the bmc. I think that's where the idea of a dog with a black mouth being 'better' comes from.
