Hello all looking for some help.
I was coon hunting the other night and struck a bobcat went about 1 1/2 miles and treed almost on top of mountain just about got to the tree that bugger bailed out ran about 500 yards treed again got close to the tree
bailed out again this time i was able to catch my dog. My question is there
any way to get under tree at night with out a cat bailing? For sure it was a cat snow on the ground. Can't kill cats in our county but would love to get a picture. Thanks David

I have treed them at night before (not by choice) I never had a light with me so could have made a difference. I have done this twice and both times they stayed treed.

it illegal in montana to run at night at leased i know it is on cougars. i think you can turn out half our before sunrise or something like that. i konw that bobs are hard enough to keep treed in the day though. they are wiley little buggers

I kill a few every year off of one of my Mt. Curs while coon hunting. Ive never had one jump out. Walk to the tree with your light on low as you can and still be able to see to walk. Walk as quietly as you can and just ease into the tree. They are very nervous animals and would rather run than stay treed, so the less racket you make the less chance they will jump out.

we hunt alot at night for cats around here usally start around 2 in the morning thats when they are usally moving around but i havnt really had a problem with them jumpin out ive had one jump out on my but that cat has also been ran by dogs a lot and is one smart cookie try walkin as close to the tree as you can then walk the rest of the way with your light off. i wear a head lamp but i keep it on all the way to the tree. but i do try to be a quite as i can be walkin to the tree.

I hunt in Pa and I want to get my dog started on bobcat. The problem here is that alot of ground is posted so I was wondering how far cats usually run before they tree? I want to know how much room I need so I dont end up on posted property.

when I lived in ca. and ran fox and bobcats the bobcats we treed a night only jump out if I climbed the tree and gave them a little push so they could come out and let my dogs run and tree him again

Bobcats will jump out of tree with only one or two dogs.
But with several dogs under tree they will stay put better.
I run never less than 6 or 8 dogs & they don,t jump much
and when they do they usally wished they hadn`t
