You have two problems, one not too serious, one very serious. Personally I wouldnt own a dog that face barks at the tree nor would I hunt with him at all. This usually turns into a full fledged tree fighter which at my house would warrant a long ride on a real short road. Coon possession is easy to solve. Just Tie him back before shooting out the coon. A three year old shouldnt need to mouth a coon. I have seen outstanding dogs that never mouthed a coon. It is not a Bluetick trait but there are some in all lines but Walkers are by far the worst I have seen with Plotts being second.
I am a hard core plott man and will not tolerate it in my dogs. Dont breed that dog as it is a heritable trait.
Basically if you have a fighter you either have a fluke or the wrong family. I have personally seen every breed of tree fighter over the years except a redbone and I am sure there is onne of those out there.
