My father started me hound hunting when I was 11; the first tree I was at was a bear approximately 150 pounds. One of the things my father instilled in me was if you killed everything you treed pretty soon you would run out of animals to hunt. I don't remember how many bear we treed together but out of all of them we only took three.
The hounds in this picture were Luke on the left, Chuck on the right and the bluetick on the ground was Blue. Blue was the coldest nose dog we had and would never trash. If blue came back to us the rest of the dogs were in deep *&^% if you know what I mean.
This is the bear that my dad (on the left) and Hank Page (on the right)won the Oregon state champion bear hunt with. The hound on the dog box with the bear is a redbone that my dad said was a reject and doesn't know why he was in the picture.
This was a lynx we took off the Paisley Desert in OR. Luke is the walker the best walker we had. He would fight and tree a bear one on one.
