Well, I remember my uncle saying that back in his day, there was a big scare about raccoons and rabies, but he said it's mainly a thing of the past. Though, it is still possible for coons (or any other animal your dog may encounter in the woods) to be rabid. It is always safe to get your dogs vaccinated for rabies, especially in case your dogs are gonna be around people. If your dog bites someone, doesn't have his shots, and the person that gets bit is ##*%*, it could end with your dog getting killed

If I was you id diffently get them there shots first. You never no what has rabies or what doesnt. I make sure all my hounds have all there shots and a rabie shot befor I take them any where. Good luck to you both on hounds and Marrige.

Get their shots, if they happen to come in contact with a rabid critter you've pretty much lost your pups!
