My dog treed on a sycamore tree the other night. A friend of mine told me that a coon never climbs a sycamore. It was clearly a den with several holes. The thing is i know i have shot out several coon out of sycamores. Am i just remembering wrong or is he right?
Treed on a lot of them..They also make nice dens along rivers. Thats usually where we find them around here.I have one on the farm we have treed on for 40+ years and its a den..LOL..

Around me if it a sycamore its going to be a den 99% of the time. Infact I dont ever recall treeing one on that outside but have seen them in the holes
I have treed on sycamores! I think you might remember wrong! I was told coon won't climb a beech tree because they have slick bark and r hard trees. They are usually hollow so if you tree on a tree beside a beech, it probably crossed over and went in to den!

coyotehunter I live in ohio and have treed many times on sycamore trees and killed more than a couple off them, they are the same as beech coon can't climb them real good but they are some of the best dens available. Follow your lead tree or grapevine and you will find the coon most of the time. Look at your holes if their worn real slick you know its a den. Good luck.
