The 22 rifles are always getting hung up in the brush so now i use a ruger 22 bearcat revolver its awsome.

I use a 17hmr a 17mach2 or a 22 markIII when I go. I like the 2 17's better than a 22 rifle or handgun. JMO

Do you mind if I ask you what model Winchester you have? It sounds like a real winner.

The only thing better than a .22 rifle for coon hunting is a .22 magnum rifle exept for the more expensive ammo

Thanks for the reply Sir. I was going to say if you had a Winchester O/U combo rifle/shotgun, you had a valuable piece of a leadslinger there. Not to say the Savage model 24 isn't a good O/U combo. Quite the opposite, they are very nice O/U's. I have the Savage model 24 B-DM. In reality, it's the same combo O/U as the plain ol' average ordinary everyday model 24. It just has the engraving on both sides of the stainless receiver (with blued barrels, making it two tone), & the wood came hand selected from the factory. It doesn't preform one bit better than the regular production run standard model 24. As a matter of fact, the standard plain jane model 24 that I have, shoots tighter groups from the rifle barrel & shotgun barrel than the 24 B-DM (prettied up) model does. I've noticed sort of a trend of other higher grade firearms (in cosmetic only, not the accuracy built firearms) that doesn't preform as well as their average cheaper user counter part. Maybe they were just building them to look at rather than use?
