theres good ones and bad one in all of them. but if i was u i would either get a bluetick or a walker. i have seen more good blueticks and walkers than any other breed. i like a good ole bluetick because they can take a cold track and run it till the tree. i like a walker because walkers can carry a track better than the rest. most walkers are hot nosed. but if u can find a good walker with a cold nose and can still carry a track good itll be a dandy.

bloodlines if u want a walker with a great nose not a hot nose then get u a clover bred walker or a wild card bred walker.there known to be good track dogs tht can take and old track and tree it with 2 eyes looking down. thats my opinion

buck creek hounds arent real cold nosed but they can run a track quicker and better than any other walker

i would go with a walker because while they may be a little hot nosed they run longer than any dog, they sound better than any dog and they can tree better and faster than any dog

id tell u to go and hunt with sum dogs and find out what traits u like in a hound then decide from there if u like fast walkers would be the way to go if u like gritty blues or blacks tend to have that ....... as far as walkers i like anything heavy sacket bred and blues i like smokey river bred those dogs have great mouths and more grit then ud expect

Any dog is what you make of it. The only dog I would recommend not to start with is a redbone. Redbones are great dogs but they are as stubborn as all get out. English dogs make good first dogs and so do B&T's.
