How do you stop kennel area from stinking? I wash my pens out everyday but the smell just stays around. How do you stop the smell? Anyone got any answers?

Use hydrated lime. It works really good. You can find it at any feed store.

Yeah Lime is great for getting stuff broke down, thus leaving the ground with a neutral PH.

I also use a 50/50 mix of Bleach and water.I buy the scented Bleach.

Try to keep your pens and surrounding area as dry as possible. If you spray the waste out the back, try scrapping it out and pushing it out the back. and the same with changing water, dump it out away from the crap. The wet area keeps the stinch around and keeps the waste from drying out. Once or twice a week i rake the waste out from the pens and leave itspread out, this will allow it to dry out pretty quick(usually less than a day in summer heat) and reduce smell and also removes fly's breeding grounds. And hydrated lime works wonders.

I dont have concreate under my dogs, so I just keep about an inch of Cedar shavin's in the kennels and it seems to keep the smell away and blood suckin critters, but I would think the bleach would work the best with concreate, But I'm gonna go to Sam's and look for the other stuff to. My males are the worst, there house's get the most of it, and I have to presure wash'em 1-2 times a year.
