I would say chevy,my grandpa has a chevy 2500 HD with a duramax diesel and it'll pull like no other and has been a great truck. As far as I know he likes that truck better than any other truck he's ever owned.

OK, well i am a chevy man all the way but a word of caution. I have been working as a parts salesman for the last 12 years and something you shouldknow about a 3/4 ton truck is they suck. They are starting to get a little better but they are terrible to get parts for. A 3/4 ton will have 1/2 ton and 1 ton and some 3/4 ton parts on them. My suggestion would be go ahead and get a 1 ton if you are looking to go big you will thank yourself in the long run.

That makes sense as long as the gas mileage is still up there.

i got friends with the fords. it's not the powerstroke that gives them problems. it's powerful and a good motor. it's other things, the hubs, rear end, transmission, etc.
dodges always have transmission problems.
definitely have to back the chevy with a duramax. I'd actually go for a GMC just because I like the look of the front end a little better but it's the same truck.

if im gonna pay the amout of money thet ask for their trucks they better be like tanks- everyone i know with a ford has to get this and that replaced or fixed or somthing- granted it is a pretty good engine but theres no way im gonna pay the amount of money they want and still be fixing every little thing because if you dont theyll slam fall apart- and how good is an engine when the truck its self is worthless

my husband drove truck for over 30yrs and always told me that there was nothing like a cummins diesel. but dodges are known for their drive train problems. i had a nice 1/2 ton dodge. had to replace the transfer case in it. now i have a '95 3/4 ton chevy gas truck. used to haul a 16' steel gooseneck with it. i had no problems with it. got good mileage on the open road. but if you have to travel short distences like back and forth to work the mileage was bad. but as one guy pointed out my 3/4 ton has lots of 1ton parts on it. and parts are hard to come by and can be expensive.
on the other hand i have a 99 chevy extended cab that imo is a piece of junk.

I cant really say which is better for a fact. but in my opinion Fords make the best. We pull a 32 ft gooseneck with our Ford and it will drag that thing loaded with just about anything. A friend of mine has a Duramax and he just had to have the front end rebuilt on his and it only has 40,000miles on it. My dad has two Z71s and I'm driving one of them right now until I get my truck rebuilt. but my grandpa is a die hard Ford man and all of our farm trucs are Fords and we punish them and they keep going and going.

Ford is about 12,000 cheeper than the Chevy and 8 miles to the gallon more than the Dodge. Drive one for work and love it.

mander, that was my point. I totally agree. yea, ford has a good motor for their diesels but everything else sucks. chevy's duramax with an alison transmission is unbeatable.
