I got a 2wd dodge half ton. Its ok. I do a lot more walking than most. I backed up over a ditch one night, and it was just me, My left tire was off the ground and the other was just spinning. Didn't have no winch and couldn't push it out by had. Had to get creative. I inventoried my pretty much empty tool box for items I might could use. I pulled out a pair of GI combat boots. I crammed one upside down underneath the left tire and put her in gear. I'll be da**ed if it didn't work. So, the moral of the story is always keep a pair of combat boots handy or just invest in a winch. My buddy uses a fwd toyota, and it is perfect. It gets him any where he wants to go and it can haul a dog box.Gets the best of both worlds.
