I think it is one of the nicest truks out there but be careful of the tranny on the 95-96 they are the first years and have problems. I would go older than a tacoma and just get a pre-94 Toyoda pickup w/ the r22 fuel enjected. I also have had a nissan hard body 95 w/ a 2.5l and it was a vary nice truck but parts are more than the toy and not so many aftermarket parts for the nissan. I did save about $3000 when I got the nissan over the toyota.

I got a tacoma and it has been one of the most reliable trucks i have ever had they are great for hunting because they are really tough and i have not had one problem out of mine.

TOYOTAS ROCK!!! i got a 98 and it runs excellent but the gas mileage depends on whether you get a four cylinder or V6 both are pretty good but my four cylinder and i get about 26 mpg and they are tough trucks with good four wheel drive ive taken mine up mountains and through huge mud holes. Go toyota for sure

buy an older yota 89-95 year range .try to avoid any thing in the 95.5 -new range .all are good trucks but the older ones will serve ya better in the coon woods

I had a 99 tacoma. It was a good truck but Toyota bought it back due to the frame being rusted out.It had the 2.7 4 cyl. and average gas milage was 20 mpg.Best I ever got was 22 mpg on trips on the interstate and thats with a K&N air filter and using synthetic oil.

I have a '96 extended cab with the 2.7L 4cyl. I have had no trouble out of it that wasn't my fault.(rear springs wont handle much airtime...lol). It gets 16 mpg's i'd say. The only complaint i have is that the bed is rusted soo bad it wont get a sticker nexr Jan. but i have a 2000 tacoma bed to put on it.
