My buddy had a B&T that used to smoke a diller every time we took him out untill we were huntin one nite and took some ammonia with us and caught him with his head in a hole and pulled him out and filled that hole with the ammonia and let him go of course he rammed his head back in there and we held our knee on his but until he couldnt stand it no more. Now he still will occasionaly will run one, but not like he used to....gas will also work if you dont have ammonia

We took a possum and shot it out to a friends walker after it treed it. Took the dead possum and whuped that walkers but with it while e- collaring it. Up until it got ran over a few months later it wouldnt even go near a possum.

My female Moko had an armadillo problem. We let her were the shock collar and when she would bay one into a den we would kinda sneak up on her and every time she stuck her head in that hole and barked we let her up with the shock collar. I hated doing it to her, but it was for the best. I have also heard from some different people to kill whatever off game the dog is chasing and put it in the dog box with them for the ride home and as you go home, periodically shock them and they associate that smell with the shock.

kill ya a diller and tie it to the dogs collar with about a 4-5 ft rope and let him drag it around the yard.every time he looks at it light him up.after a day or so of this A diller could walk under his nose and he would pay it no mind

Just the shock is all you need. It will do the job! You might have a couple episodes of it but there is no need to do any beating or tying it to the dog in combination. Personally, if I consider it off game, the last thing I want to do is shoot in front of my dog. That's just doesn't make any sense at all to me and it definately doesn't make sense to a dog. Just use the coller and LIGHT his butt up when he shows ANY interest in a diller or any off game. No need in meaningless torture. Here's another suggestion, take it for what its worth, DO NOT EVER shock a dog in the box if you don't want to have to cram him in it by hand from now on. Personally, I like mine to load themselves on command. JMO

I had a young female last year that messed with a diller one time. I lit her up with the e collar and she hasn't messed with one since. There isnt a need in killing a diller in front of the dog, sounds real unproductive to me. The collar should work just fine.

As far as shooting the off-game animal in front of your dog goes, I made the same mistake. My dog found a porcupine in a tree and didn't bawl treed or show too much interest (other than looking up and whining a little). I thought it'd be a great opportunity to shoot it out and use it for breaking. I even tied my dog far away, out of eye-sight, but he's no dummy, he knows what the shot-gun sounds like. A few days later he treed another porcupine, and this time did it full-blown. Was I to blame for that? Maybe. Looking back though I think I did a really foolish thing, whether or not I had good intentions.

Consider yourself very lucky! I have seen it happen and almost ruined one of my own doing it. So I wasn't just making something up to say. I was giving advice from personal experience.
But hey, just keep on doing what works for you
