Has anyone had a dog with this problem. We have a gascon bluetick 6yrs old last month he started to limp on his back leg, found one toe swollen, no cuts or broken nails, next day the front paw has one swollen toe doesn't seem to be in pain, he wants to walk but after a short walk starts to limp again. Tried to keep him off his feet for 4 weeks no change, the swelling now is on both front paws, only one toe. The toe's don't feel broken and the swollen areas are hard. Right now can't afford a vet any ideas would be appreciated.

How did this turn out? The only thing I could think of is that he somehow strained or sprained something in his feet, slipped a pad or two or is having an allergic reaction to something (sometimes makes them chew their feet).

Update 5 days ago I started to add 1 tsp of tumeric to his food then cut it down to 1/2 tsp a day, he now gets up with no whining, still has a limp and the toes are still swollen but slowly going down, will give it one more week before I try to take him for short walks, can't let him loose as he will keep running but he pays for it in the end. Got loose last week and off he ran had to bribe him with raw meat to catch him laid him up for three days no moving at all thought we were going to have to put him down but now with the tumeric slowly improving. Will give further update when I start to walk him. P.S I also used Volterin on the toes to kill pain just remember to cover with a sock .

Update May 2016 had to put him down, he got a nose bleed one day, then stopped urinating, his pecker swelled up twice its normal size, vet said would cost over $1000 and no gaurantee, couldn't afford the money.

The vet had no idea. Looking on the computer was no help either. We are just now starting to think about getting another hound.
