It may be possible, but very unlikely I would think!! I guess if the dog took hold and got a lucky bite he could sever an artery.

Thanks guys, I hunt deer with dogs and an old fellow lives by our club he's a nice guy and doesn't have a problem us dog hunters but today he called the game warden and told him he watched one of our dogs kill one of his expensive cows. Now there's a big ordeal going on about losing our lease and it got me puzzled thinking of a dog killing and taking down a cow. We've never had any kind of problem like this.

I would make them do an autopsy to determine the cause of death. I have seen cows that have been killed by a dog they just get them by the throat and cut off there air. Make them prove it.

They claim they don't know who's dog it is. None of my dogs had blood on them. The company who leases our land to us said they've never had any complaints about our group so we wouldn't be losing it. So NOW, the cows owner is wanting 25000 dollars for the cow. So were losing our lease because of that. He can't provide proof of how it killed the cow or who's dog it was. I was raised in this hunting club, and now I won't even see it again after tomorrow.

I'm in to the livestock showing industry, and that damn cow better be a show champion donor to be worth that! And if he can't prove your dogs did it their isn't a Case. Last time I checked you have to go to court for stuff like this, and I sure don't see any judge ordering in his favor if all he has is him saying he saw a dog do it. Put ur dogs with a cow and video tape it. If they don't do anything then you have more proof then he does. Also he just stood there and watch his 25k cow get killed by a dog???? I'm pretty damn sure if I had a dog attacking any if my expensive sheep breeding stock I'd be shooting the sob.

The game warden asked him the same thing, why didn't he shoot the dog? His reason was he's a vet and doesn't believe in shooting and killing animals. And the cow was a brangus cow from Louisiana but now he wants MORE money for it. And no one witnessed it but him but no one knows what dog it was or if it really happened. The game wardens are taking his side, people can be down right unreasonable these days!

The highest price ever brought for pedigree brangus cattle at public auction was in Australia in 2009 a brangus cow brought 16000, and the top bull was at 30,000. I doubt very much if that fella had stock worth that much. Besides brangus Cows average between 12 an 1600 lbs.quite a challenge for a 70 lb walker do

Aside from coon dogs I also own several pit bulls. My 120 pound male went down to the pasture with a thirst for blood. He got his ##*%* handed to him from our 1200 pound Charolais. I just don't see a coon dog no matter how ornery taking down a brangus.

thats ##*%*. i hunt with hounds and i have raised pits for 11 years. on top of that years ago we used pits for catch dogs on bad cattle that people were unable to catch. a 85 pd pit trainer to catch, with experience will get its head busted in by itself on a cow. we lost two catch dogs in a week that got in thickets with cows. one got mashed against a log. the other was kicked in the head. and these dogs were trained to catch. tell that guy to stick that so called 25000 cow up his ##*%*. if he cannot prove it was your dog, then he doesnt have anything at all. and he would have to prove it beyond any doubt. he sound like some kind of anti hunter that just wants people to stop that area. good luck
