My blue tick hound (13 months old) is not very aggressive towards a coon in a trap. He will bark around it, but not directly at it, he will kind of walk around the cage barking. I turned the coon loose in a field the other night to see if he would trail him, he did trail, but when the coon hissed at my dog he barked, and then ran back to me. What can I do to make him more aggressive towards the coon and not so scared?

I would find someone if you don't already have a finished dog that is not mean and use it and the caged coon to help build up the confidence of the dog then once you can tell he is riled up try him by himself and then let him track and tree it than if kill season shoot it out and see if he will kill it. However some dogs do not overcome this problem and will never truly make a good coon dog especially true if they are shy in other ways.
