no problems at all...
floor board rails are 1 1/2 inches apart.
the whole idea is so the stool falls through to the ground.

Wow i just read through this whole post. took about 45 mins but the general consensous is that these kennels are def worth every penny. Im thinking about building one for myself to try it out. Im thinking about the composite flooring since TC said thats the only issue he has had was with the floor rotting out. Its a great idea and all and I'm glad i read everyones input!!!

Depends on if he will be in there 24/7 or have a zip line or run part of the time.

I'd make it at least 10'x4' plus a dog house hanging off the back that's what I have for the three I've got

Do they help cut down on the flies on your dogs? My hounds are on concrete now, I pick up poop and hose them down every morning and every night but they poop during the day and when I get home the flies are all over them

yes , they are no problem at all. mine are 36" off the ground to the floors. I have mine so the stool falls through to the ground.
I didn't realize how much difference it made till I had to put my old dog on the ground because he is 16 yrs old and he is no longer stable enough to walk on the floor rails. with him on the ground I have to put repellant on him so the flies don't eat his ears up. the dogs in the pens have no flies bothering them at all.

Okay thank you toe cutter, do you chance have any pictures of the floors up close? The wife thinks the floor will be to open and the dog will fall through

Have you guys every used a 55 gallon barrel as the doghouse in one of these.I have several brood/whelping pens off the ground but want to make something for older pups/non whelping bitches. Any pictures and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Learned a very valuable lesson though, dont try and cheat and lay the floor boards flat, defeats the whole purpose of being easy to clean, I spend atleast 20 minutes every day spraying it clean.
